My biggest fear is the seemingly inevitable NFL lockout next year. Just to catch everyone up on the latest labor agreement problems between the NFL owners and the players; they two parties can’t figure out how to divide up the nine billion dollar revenue that the NFL brings in each year. They are in day seventy-something of trying to negotiate an agreement on the revenue split. After those seventy days, they have gotten absolutely nowhere! You might be thinking well that’s fine since NFL players make millions of dollars a year, and while that is true for the big name players, they aren’t the only ones that need to get paid. If there is no NFL next year, everyone that works for the stadium will be out of a job, the travel agencies that are responsible for transporting players will lose a lot of business, the businesses that thrive on the crowd that NFL games bring in could be forced to close, agents of players will not make any money, and millions of fans will be heartbroken that there is no more football on sundays or mondays. The money also could go to players’s retirement fund, to practice squad players, coaches and other people that work for the teams.
What could make the situation even worse would be a lockout in the NBA next season as well. The NBA could be headed towards a situation similar to what the NFL is dealing with now. If there is no NFL or NBA next year, I might go into a severe depression.
All those people losing their jobs is quite a problem.
ReplyDeleteI agree Lisa, it is a huge problem and it is also very sad! I think this lockout is very selfish on the owners' part, and thousands of people will suffer for their selfishness.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I will do if there is no NFL next season. Especially with all of crap going on with the buckeyes.
ReplyDeleteI know Sundays wont be the same, but I wont take Saturdays for granted that for sure
